Today is Veterans day a day to celebrate our Veterans in this great country.
I will be enjoying the many free offerings that are given to Veterans on this day but I also want to reflect on a couple of things at the start of my day.
It’s hard to believe but 35 years ago on July 21st I got on a plane in Des Moines Iowa to Fort Jackson South Carolina for in processing to start my journey in the US Army. Happy Veterans day. To my fellow Veterans and those that are serving thanks for your service. To those who have family that served thanks for their service. Proud US Army Veteran Hoo Rah!
All of my fellow Veterans will remember this oath that we took.
I, Joseph Allen Ray , do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.”
I took this oath on July 21st 1981
My oath has no expiration date.
