Today I was out driving around trying to decide where I wanted to go for lunch. I was by Queen Asia and remembered that I had been told that I need to try this place sometime and if nothing else try the Halo Halo desert. I decided that since I was by the restaurant I would give it a try.
I ordred a Thai Ice Tea, Pork Adobo and the Halo Halo desert.
The pork adobo is a cubed pork in a mixture of soy sauce, vinegar and garlic sauce and came with a side of rice.
The Halo Halo is a popular Filipino dessert with mixtures of shaved ice and evaporated milk to which are added various ingredients, including boiled sweet beans, coconut, sago, gulaman (agar jelly), tubers and fruits. It is served in a tall glass or bowl.
The Thai Ice tea was good although not the best that I have had but this restaurant states they are Philippine & Vietnamese Cuisine.
I really enjoyed the Pork Adobo. The pork was cooked perfectly and the flavor from the sauce was also delicious. The rice was also cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The amount of rice that was included was more than adequate.
The Halo Halo was very unique and I have never had anything like it before. It was in my opinion amazing. The shaved ice added a nice chill and the flavors from the other ingredients were really delicious. I have to admit the various boliled beans that were used were the most unique items for a desert.
I would say that I definitely got my money’s worth and I left feeling extremely full.
I highly recommend Queen Asia and if you are in the mood for a different desert try the Halo Halo. I will definitely go back and try other items on the menu.
