My wife has been wanting to go out for Sushi since before Valentine’s day. I heard about a new Asian Cuisine restaurant that had opened in Taylorsville and I had heard good things about it. I decided my loyal readers needed me to visit and give my opinion. So after I got off work we headed to Chopfuku in Taylorsville Utah to give it a try.
I ordered the Spicy Garlic Edamame and 2 pieces of something called a Snowball for my main dish I ordered the Sushi Sashimi Combo. My wife orders a special called Suzuki and also the Vegie Roll, The California Roll and Rock n Roll.
The Snow Ball consisted of a ball of rice wrapped in a lightly seared super white tuna with pomzu sauce.
The Sushi Sashimi Combo consisted of 5 kinds of nigiri, 7 kinds of sashimi a spicy tuna roll. It also came with miso soup and house salad.
The Suzuki was a sea bass with a sauce.
The veggie roll consisted of avacadp, cucumber and vegetables.
The California Roll consisted of snow crab, avocado and cucumber.
The Rock n Roll consisted of shrimp tempura, snow crab and avocado.
Now for my opinions.
The Spicy Garlic Edamame was awesome. The spiciness was a nice kick but Not too much and it was cooked perfectly.
The Snow Ball again was amazing. The super white tuna has amazing flavor and it was seated perfectly which added a nice smoky taste. The ponzu sauce added a slightly sweet flavor.
The miso soup was also extremely tasty and very enjoyable. The salad was nice and fresh and also very tasty.
The sashimi was some of the best that I have had in Utah. The fish was nice and fresh and was cut perfectly and had amazing flavor. My favorite was the Tamago which is a home made sweet egg delight. I have had this at other Sushi establishments and found it usually a little too sweet this was not the case at Chopfuku and m it was probably the best I have had. The Nigiri again was amazing The fish was nice and fresh and extremely flavorful and the rice was perfect. The Spicy tuna roll was also delicious and flavorful.
Now for my wife’s opinion.
“The Sushi rolls were good. Only con is they weren’t wrapped as strongly as other places. And small portion sizes.
The Suzuki was good. Ediname in Garlic Oil was yummy.”
As far as value for the money I definitely think it was a decent value.
I highly recommend Chopfuku and will definitely be going back to try additional items on the menu.
