Tonight for dinner my wife Barb Catlin Ray and were celebrating her birthday and our 16th aniversary of being together. I let her pick our dinner date location and she picked Tsunami in South Jordan.
We ordered for an appetizer the Uli Edamame.
Barb for her sushi rolls ordered a California Roll, Tempura Shrimp Roll, the Aloha roll and the Jenny Roll.
For my sushi rolls I ordered The Catalina Roll, The Mainlander Roll and the KP Roll.
Now for the descriptions of the rolls and the appetizer.
Uli Style Edamame chili garlic fried edamame
Catalina – Satueed Mushrooms, tempura asparagus, avocado, carrots, jicama and scallions wrapped in soy paper.
Mainlander – Tempura lobster tail and scallions topped with ultra-rare U.S. Wagyu Beef and Tobikko served with wasabi aioli.
KP – Spicy Tuna, house made tamago and asparagus rolled in Thai chillies.
California – Crab and avocado.
Shrimp tempura – Tempura shrimp, avocado, cucumber, eel sauce.
Aloha spicy tuna, fresh mango and avocado.
Jenny Crab and avocado topped with fresh salmon and paper thin Lemon slices drizzled with ponzu.
Now for my opinions of my rolls. 1st the Catalina Roll although this was a vegetarian roll it was amazing. The veggies were nice and fresh and had amazing flavor.
The Mainlander in my opinion was probably the best sushi roll I have ever had anywhere. The lobster was extremely tasty and the Wagyu Beef was also very tasty.
The KP Roll was also really tasty and it has a nice extra spicy kick from the Thai chilies.
My only criticism would be that the rolls could have been wrapped a bit tighter.
I think the value for the money is decent. This is a premium sushi restaurant so you do pay more but it’s worth it because of the quality.
I highly recommend Tsunami.
Now for my wife’s opinion.
“Edamame was delicious, with a hint of Chili Garlic Oil. Warm and still crunchy.
The Aloha, California, Jenny and Shrimp Tempura Sushi rolls were also delicious. Con was the rolls weren’t wrapped as tightly as I would expect for their caliber of an establishment. And had to ask for Ginger a bit after they brought the food out. Salad was a good size portion but $3.00 for a small bowl of greens with a tablespoon of Carrots and little dressing of seemed pricey. Out of 5 stars I’d give it 4 1/2.”
