Tonight for dinner there was a food truck that I had not tried before at the Hungry Herriman food truck roundup. The truck was called The Salty Pineapple and I decided to give them a try.
For my wife Barb I ordered the Hawaiian Plate with Sweet Garlic Chicken. For myself I ordered the Hawaiian Plate with Kalua Pig.
This is what Barb said about her meal. “Salty Pineapple: Chicken with Rice and Macaroni Salad
Really enjoyed this meal. Rice had a very small amount of possibly Basil, sprinkled on it.
Chicken had a slight sweet taste, but not too much, a bit on the crispy side. Not overly crispy though. The Macaroni salad was basic, but how I like it. No gross stuff like green or other onion, peppers, mushrooms, etc.
My cons would be the rice even though it had a Sushi roll type texture it was a bit dry.
The Chicken pieces were nice size portions but white meat so slightly dry and tough.
Nice refreshing change.”
Now for my opinion. This dish was amazing. The rice was cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. I really enjoyed the seasoning and thought it was a nice touch. The macaroni salad was delicious and the macaroni was cooked perfectly. The Kalua pig was phenomenal. It had amazing flavor and was cooked perfectly. The Kalua pig was nice and moist and tender. The pineapple was a nice touch as well and it was nice and fresh and tasty.
I would say I got an excellent value for my money and I definately got full from my meal.
I highly recommend The Salty Pineapple food truck and will definitely go back in the future and try other items on the menu.
